As we often say, the head doesn’t know how to say stop, but the body, yes! I was nearly burned out! It was just too much at work and home. I didn’t know what to do; I was utterly lost and needed help.
But where to go, what to do, whom should I talk to? I don’t think HR and management is a good idea; I felt it because it would be perceived as a weakness and won't be suitable for my progression (but maybe I was wrong). At home, to my wife, but she was already dealing a lot with our children and her work, so I didn’t want to add more to her. So, I went to see my doctor, and she said I needed to take an anti-depressor, which would help me immensely. So, I did this, took the pills, and yes, it worked; after a while, I felt much better. But I was not aware that it has many side effects. For example, I took more than 10 kilos. You also become addicted to them, and it is tough to stop using them. So, I can say I was good in my head but not in my body. One of my friends even jokes about this: « you have the choice, a happy fat banker or an unhappy fit banker. » And no, I don’t think this is what I wanted. I wanted to be a happy father, husband, and banker, good in head and body and happy in life. So, I decided to do something, but where to start?
